First of all I would like to begin this by telling you guy what "Khmer" is. Khmer or Cambodia is an ancient kingdom in Southeast Asia that reached the peak of its power in the 11th century, when it ruled the entire Mekong River valley from the capital at Angkor. It was destroyed by Thai conquests in the 12th and 14th centuries. Click here to view the map.
The Khmer Rouge turned Cambodia to year zero. They banned all institutions, including stores, banks, hospitals, schools, religion, and the family. Everyone was forced to work 12 - 14 hours a day, every day. Children were separated from their parents to work in mobile groups or as soldiers. People were fed one watery bowl of soup with a few grains of rice thrown in. Babies, children, adults and the elderly were killed everywhere. The Khmer Rouge killed people if they didn’t like them, if didn’t work hard enough, if they were educated, if they came from different ethnic groups, or if they showed sympathy when their family members were taken away to be killed. All were killed without reason. Everyone had to pledge total allegiance to Angka, the Khmer Rouge government. It was a campaign based on instilling constant fear and keeping their victims off balance. (Source)
The Khmer Rouge is remembered mainly for the deaths of an estimated 1.5 million people or 1/3 of the country's total population (estimates range from 850,000 to two million) under its regime, through execution, starvation and forced labor.

This is a very similar to the Holocaust except its not exactly a camp. Instead, the whole country was like a big camp. The Khmer Rouge controlled the whole country. I will never forget this because I've heard about this topic since I was little. I would like to tribute to those who lost their lives during that period. I know it's hard to try to live with it. I know for a face that I won't be able to live that that. We all should not forget about this topic because it's important to our would too. I hope that it won't return back ever again! You might think that you can't do or help anything about it, but we could at least donate some money to them. This is one important topic so we shall not forget about them and pray for them.

The Khmer Rouge to me was very sad. It led to millions of death like exucutions and from starvation.
Wow the amount of innocent people dead is very sad, i really contribute and would really love to help you fulfill your dreams of what you want to do in the future. Yes, indeed it is really distressing to find out what really happened to them.
Thats just sad about how many skulls there are in frist picture. It makes me think about how many people were killed to get that picture in the frist place. On the other hand the picture is a good one.
This is a moving and thorough post. I appreciate that you looked at the history of the Khmer. This is a bloody and massive, relatively recent genocide.
